Loch Lomond is the largest lake in Great Britain and situated in Scotland. Loch Lomond is 24 miles long and extends from Ardlui in the north, where its feeders rise near the River Tay, to Balloch in the south, where the River Leven flows out to the Clyde. The upper stretches of the lake occupy a steepsided narrow valley, formed by ice, with mountains rising to over 3,000 feet on either side. The southern part of Loch Lomond widens out to about 5 miles and contains numerous large islands. | ||
